Please join us as Jonathan Ingrisano and Eric Maassen discuss recent notable cases in the trust and estate space.  They will share their unique perspectives on these cases, providing valuable insights into current trends and challenges in the field.

Our presenters: 

Jonathan concentrates part of his practice in Estate, Trust & Fiduciary Litigation. He represents trust companies, other fiduciaries and family members in all manner of disputes arising from the planning and administration of trusts and estates. He has represented clients in proceedings related to fiduciary liability, fiduciary removal, undue influence, lack of testamentary capacity, trust construction, and contracts to make a will. Jonathan collaborates closely with the firm’s highly regarded estate planning attorneys to ensure that clients receive effective advocacy that incorporates sound and efficient wealth planning and preservation.

Eric L. Maassen is a partner in the Litigation Department of Foley & Lardner LLP. Eric is an experienced trial lawyer who focuses on fiduciary litigation. For nearly 20 years, Eric has represented fiduciaries, beneficiaries, settlors and testators, estate planning attorneys, non-profit organizations, and estate creditors and contracting parties, in an exceptionally broad range of lawsuits and disputes. His fiduciary clients include institutional fiduciaries, attorneys who accept fiduciary roles for their clients and their law firms, and private individuals. He routinely defends trustees and executors against breach of fiduciary duty and conflicts claims and related allegations. He frequently litigates claims over the validity of instruments including those turning on questions of capacity and undue influence. He has prosecuted and defended a variety of claims over the construction of estate planning documents. A significant aspect of Eric’s practice involves representing non-profits on a nationwide basis in cases involving challenges to charitable bequests. He also counsels charities on gift agreements and administration and use of charitable gifts, including so-called “bad boy” provisions and situations, and alterations in purpose and use of funds.
